Wedding – April 29, 1944

Mum’s memoirs – " We had a lovely wedding in the Catholic Church and about 20 people at our reception. Joan, Mum, Aunt Poppy and Wilfred were the only ones in my family to attend. I engaged the Dorothy restaurant to cater a small reception for us. The reception was to be held at Overstream House, a lovely place… Wine was difficult to get and as the wine shop in town was near the lab, one of the group would nip out every hour or so to see if the shop had received a shipment. Mum had begged coupons from friends and family and made us the traditional fruit cake, beautifully decorated and carried by her to the reception in a hat box."
