Re:Christmas Message From Liz Date Posted:12/23/2009 02:48 AMCopy HTML Barb, I have not forgotten you regarding getting you copies of the poem book for the archives, I am trying to pre plan, but i do not have a diary for 2010 yet. Joan say's now i am retired, i do not need a diary. I advised i have commitments, like to Barb, and do not want to let her down. I was told to stop procrastinating and get the job done. So, my boss has spoken, and will get them to you expediantly. I have learnt to just say YES DEAR.
Does anyone else want copies of this book if i scan them successfully. Probably will take up much room on your computer? If not i will just send to our chief US Taylor archives administrater Barb, How about our Canadian Taylor site manager Liz, should i copy you? (or is there an issue with computer that will not accept large files) There are quite a few pages involved. Reading your above info, you have a few challenges with the Bell bloke. Please let me know, either this site, or e mail. Thanks to all the family that participate in this site, we would like to wish you all a very merry christmas for 09, and a very happy new year for 2010. Joan, Alx, Harvey and Marc. ps. dont take me too seriously Barb, I like to have fun. Where are you Edward, have not heard from you, do you visit this site? Again Liz, great job with this site we thanks you. Even if we do not visit it as often as we would like. |

Re:Christmas Message From Liz Date Posted:12/23/2009 10:06 AMCopy HTML Hi Alex
Of course I would love a copy and I will add them to this site for everyone to read easily. I found dad's Autograph book (from early 1990's) with some fascinating entries and drawings...Tam was 'tickled' and amazed to see them all. There is still so much info that I haven't posted along with the first box that i removed from the truck when getting my storage out was several of mum's photo albums! We are making a little headway in finding Anne's sisters. I added my name to the road they lived in (Friends Reunited) hoping someone would contact me and I am waiting to hear back from someone (who thought my name was Grogan..Anne's dads surname) who probably knew the family. Anyway Alex...Glad to see that Joan has you suitably challenged. I have to admit, I sometimes wonder if others that don't know you, take what you say the wrong way...You have great sense of humour which sometimes flies over the heads of others, I'm sure..! (Though I think Barb has you sussed! ..lol) I found the little newspaper article from when you were 'lost' in Mombasa, Alex. I remember reading it out to the class at school...in a 'show and tell' moment no doubt! There is LOTS of stuff i know you and the rest of the family will enjoy when I finally get time starting next week or two. (doors are still coming in) to scan and post. I am SOOO lookng forward to going through all the cassette (about 500) and video(about 300) tapes that I have. I have bought all the cords necessary to upload portions of cassette tapes to pc...and will work on the vhs tape. Jess has a computer 'music Studio' program (professional quality) where he can take some of the tapes I recorded of his dad, separate his voice and enhance the quality and add his own guitar and drums to it...in effect, creating a 'record' which i will be adding to youtube...There is SOoooo much I want to do this year pertaining to this site and archiving stuff. Ohhh something that you may enjoy is a one minute video (with no picture cos it was dark) of Tam singing Carrie Underwoods 'Before he cheats' at karaoke a couple of weeks ago. She has an amazing voice, especially considering she barely sings except at home! I will add it in a minute. Keep in mind also that I have Anne's computer so she will not be responding to this thread. I am fixing Brian's (Hallett) pc for Sue to use and Anne's needed cleaning up, so taking the opportunity while she is down wih Christine. This is Tam...the first portion is difficult to hear but I am sure you will agree she sounds great in the later porton! |

Re:Christmas Message From Liz Date Posted:12/23/2009 10:55 AMCopy HTML BTW Alex... If you think of your computer as a kitchen and a warehouse. The kitchen is the space you use when you are running programs and surfing....a bit like walking into the kitchen and putting on the oven, toaster, microwave, hotplate, processes all at once....Thats the RAM. |

Re:Christmas Message From Liz Date Posted:12/23/2009 15:59 PMCopy HTML Liz,
As you probably already know i am a little challenged with the computer, so i will have to work my passion up. Yes Tam sounds pretty good on the video, its the piano player that needs a little bit of help. You should encourage her, sounds like good talant. I got a note from Harvey advising it is Carolyns birthday today, So happy Birthday Carolyn if you read this info. Sounds like you have some good stuff Liz, sure we would like to see it. Have a great day. Thanks Alx |

Re:Christmas Message From Liz Date Posted:12/24/2009 16:14 PMCopy HTML Alex, Go ahead and scan them "huge" - high resolution if you can - they can always be made smaller, but you cant enlarge a small resolution to be more readable. Liz' warehouse analogy is good and I have an external hard drive which adds extra space - or backup incase of computer disaster. Once we have all the documents and photo treasures we can put them onto a dvd for everyone (and for safekeeping). And the journal will not need to be touched ever again. |

In the new year I will be getting mums photos scanned and lots f other stuff...Who knows what i will find. I may be able to get some info from other family members... We will get there i have no doubt...and thanks for your offer of help too... I'm all done for Christmas...3.00pm christmas eve and I'm not going out any more!...What I don't have, I'll have to live without...lol (I'll bet there is something!...I'll let you know) |

Re:Christmas Message From Liz Date Posted:12/25/2009 01:06 AMCopy HTML Liz, Anne has been trying to locate a close school friend since i dont know when. I tried and failed. I know that Anne would be really chuffed if she could make contact. Harvey is here today, he went online and showed me Carolyn's . and Barbs Facebook page, interesting. I asked him to check to see if there was a Pat Bailey (Anne's friend) i only had a quick look and saw the name a few times eg Patricia Bailey, Pat Bailey in Phenix, plus some more. I think Anne sais she may have moved to the states?? She used to have her own hairdressing shop in Enfield Town. You have got the gift of the gab Liz, could you make a couple of enquiries and see if it is the person. I know you like a challenge, you are good at that sort of stuff, and i think you have a lot of spare time now you are all caught up. Do you want a target date if you take the assignment on. Or can we motivate you in any other way. I also know how you like to keep busy, and then you wont have time to give me a repremand for anything. But if you need any guidence, just ask.
Thanks, Hope all that read this have a great christmas, and a super New Year. Liz, you and Barb are doing a great job with this site, We appreciate it. Alex |

Re:Christmas Message From Liz Date Posted:12/25/2009 01:45 AMCopy HTML Alex...You kill me...heehee.
I'm all caught up for Christmas...but I have 11 doors waiting for me at work so i wont necesarily have lots of time after the 4th...(which is good) After taking on the home Depot out west its got so busy they have to relocate to new premises (70,000 sq ft I think at 400 and Finch ..near N York Hospital. The owner is taking me over there in the New Year so I can tell him what i need for my new area which is about 3 times the size I have right now (enough for about 10 doors at a time) I need special lighting and tables etc although you would be proud of me for my trolleys ad things that I have made....I only need to ask one of the blokes and they would make it but you know me..grab a hammer and a few bits of brickmould and I'm in heaven!..lol I have a video of my little area and my trolleys ..Ill add later. Anyway...they are great...Anything i want they get for me...or I go out and buy it ...on their bill! (They supply everything...I just take my lunch!) Well..As I was saying...They are moving March 1 so its probably not going to be as quiet as I was expecting. Last year I did 12 doors between December and April....Thats what I have waiting for me after the holidays...but... I have already spent quite a bit of time looking for Pat...I phoned the hairdressers association hoping she may be registered...I phned several hairdressers and have Pam on lookout for me too....No record of her at the school either. I know how important it is for Anne to find her so I will keep trying. Remember Mo? I searched everywhere for him...sent out radio broadcasts etc...but finally got a letter from his mum to say he died (a few years ago)...I wanted to get him over here so bad...he would have loved it..but sadly.... I often get myself in a pickle too...I had a friend in his 70's..Johnny the Clown...He used to put on his uniform and medals on Remembrance day...I found out he was in the spitfires and saved a chaps life...Unfortunately the chap lost a leg but I anaged (without Johnny knowing) to get the details and phoned Scotland to find him. I found a chap with the same name....Twit that I am..I wasn prepared and after huming and hrring..I asked the bloke if he only had one leg...lololol. He was great...It wasnt him but he was interested in war planes and was going to research for me. Unfortunately I lost my phone and he wasnt able to get back to me...Johhny died shortly after..in fact he was in hospital the same time mum was and when I dropped mum off with dad to go to his funeral...that was the last time dad spent with mum as she died 10 days later. I've rambled again haven't I? I agree Alex that I will spend some time searching for Pat and Anne's sisters..its really important...so I wont have time to reprimand you...sadly...lol cos thats what spoilt little sisters do isn't it? (I loved being spoilt..heehee) I will be uploading your tp you sent in 1960 from Aden...you sound hilarious...sorry...talking about Sammy and wht you were getting for dinner etc... There are so many memories that its so great to share and keep for the kids to learn about their family...even though right now they may not fully understand the importance..but so nice to start to get to know their long distance relatives. That was so importAnt to mum...She told me she didnt want us to lose contact with all our relatives in the States! I have to get back to filling stockings...lol...I'm not as caught up as I thought I was..lol |
