Date Posted:01/17/2010 20:02 PMCopy HTML Hi Folks, Was thinking, if you have nothing to do sometime you could surf the web for info on grandfathers silk flower factory. It was located on hertford rd across from Tramway Av Edmonton. If you go to web site trolleybuses and buses serving Tottenham (1850 onwards) there is a picture of a horse drawn tram leaving Tramway av, his factory was more or less if that tram came forward from the turn it would hit the factory building. It was a two story structure that are now apartments? His factory was in the 2nd floor. The picture that Ed has, was taken in that same location. This is when he took his employees out on a picnic in the old bus. Just some input? Thanks Alx |

Re:Grandfather's Silk Flower Search Date Posted:01/18/2010 14:48 PMCopy HTML Ohh OK Alex..thanks..
If you have any communications with Barb or other info regarding the factory can you let me know or add to this thread..ta! (its an effort for me to email...don't ask...lol...so most of what I find will be added here as opposed to email) If, when you post on here, you choose to 'subscribe' you will get an email advising you of a reply...but I think you do that anyway!..lol (its not working for me right now) Barb,
I was reviewing the info you researched about
Alexander and the flower factory.
It would appear that Liz's father (Thomas Tindal)
had a flower establishment in Shordicth. So it looks like Alexander was a bit
of a rebel, Liz wanted to try and get him in line, so perhaps Thomas Tindal
helped Liz set up the artificial flower factory in Edmonton. (Hence the E
before the A) Because it is the business they knew, and thought it would help
carve a career for Alexander and Liz. Probably Liz was the power and probably
ran the factory while Alexander spent most of his time with mates and pubs,
goofing off. Does this seem credible with no facts?
Hopefully you will receive the poem book in a
couple of day's Barb, and try and get a sense of his life through the poems?
Then extract the salient parts, and condense.
Thanks for your suport Liz and Barb.

Re:Grandfather's Silk Flower Search Date Posted:01/19/2010 19:58 PMCopy HTML Liz,
It may be better for you to transcribe any useful bits from the tapes rather than upload the whole thing. I know I am limited in bandwidth usage (upload and download) so cant really listen to anything - or look at videos. :-( Barb |

Well, maybe not a word for word transcription!!! Just any relevant comments (if any) But this is even more reason not to upload the whole thing.................. B |

Re:Grandfather's Silk Flower Search Date Posted:01/20/2010 05:12 AMCopy HTML lol Barb...
The site is to save stuff for the future and I will tuck it away in a place that wont disturb your bandwidth unless you click on it. Pics etc dont use much as they are linked to photobucket..so its the equivalent of a line of text when I post pics. ( I learnt that from a forum that was trying to preserve bandwidth but pics were no problem) I have mountains of stuff to add but none of it will affect you unless you click on it. I can understnd the slow PC thing..believe me I have been making these pages (prior to Alex giving me his pc) with less than a snails speed...Thats why I always knew if it loaded ok on my pc it was OK for others. If downloaded though (as long as your pc is good) you shouldnt have a problem with some stuff that you really want to see....videos wouldnt play for me full stop..pc couldnt take it even if downloaded. I have lost so many of the special videos and taped recordings I just want to get them online to preserve them...even if noone listens... Yes...lol.. I will try to add some transcript to them, but with the one I found, its just me telling dad about leonard...Reading out the 'log' to him....not really worth transcripts with the real documents available to read. Ohh..better go...I'm still working on the Anniversary page...Its midnight now and been workng on it since...er..7ish...a few hours left and I will be done...lol |
