The house was new in 1996 - you can see a bit of the old barn toward the front of the property - it was built in 1847. Barb |

Re:Barbs Home in Vermont Date Posted:03/13/2009 19:06 PMCopy HTML Hi Alex, I had received an email from Caroline from my original "cc" to her (before she wrote to you) and had explained what the deal was with the new Taylor contacts. Attached a view out our front door last December - the old barn and the 1847 farmhouse (which we owned until we sold it - that side of the road). We do get a lot of snow in the winter but in Vermont they take good care of the roads and they are usually plowed first thing in the morning. Tony has a snow blower on his John Deere so takes care of our driveway. Our house and field is on a bank - the woods behind slopes down to the river (maybe 50 ft below) - it doesnt usually overflow its banks but wouldnt affect us if it did - though the nearby village (called Gaysville after the Gay family) was completely wiped out in a flood in 1927 (if you are interested in it and my town - a friend and I have created a history and genealogy website - more than 30 pages - at |
