Mum's family did not approve of them staying together when mum was pregnant with Anne. Dad married mum less than a year later..Anne was born Feb 13th 1939 and mum and dad were married the following Jan 20th 1940. Ron married 'Nellie' (I don't know what it was short for) Eleanor? and shortly after they had a girl (I have the names listed somewhere, or Anne may be able to remember them..(Frances,....) within the same birthyear or close, as Anne. Quite a few years ago I contacted the family (Mums mother Sarah's sister Frances' family...pheeew!) Kathleen (Frances' daughter) informed me of the details of Nellie and gave me their location, in Kent, or thereabouts...I called Nellie and she was lovely. I can't remember if she knew about Anne or not...It could have been a difficult call, but you have to do what you have to do and Nellie was, as I said before, lovely. She hadn't (or didn't want to ) tell her daughters about Anne and I promised her I wouldn't jeopardise their relationship by doing so behind her back before she told them. She sent a picture with Ron included, but we dont know which of the men he is! Poor Anne...A pic of her dad and he's either a short stocky chap or a rather good looking bloke...(I think its the latter) I lost contact with Nellie but still have the details that I will find. On Friends Reunited there is an option of adding yourself to a 'road' that you lived in and if neighbours add themselves then you can contact them...I added myself to the road she gave me at the time in case the daughters registered. Recently I called what I thought was the number but the people answering assured me they have had that number for a while so somewhere I have something wrong...but...I will get the details and post them For now I just wanted to give you the outline. Someone at the local paper was checking the obits for me and, unless she has left I could still contact her...I figured the daughters may have been listed and contact that way....but we dont know for SURE that she has died...Maybe she hasn't. If she had her daughter in 1940 she may be about 90. (the new 60!) There is no need to go back through the old dates...these would have been born during the 40's I'm hoping that using the proper channels they may not be too hard to find, but of course being all girls their names have probably changed...thats why I thought the obits (if Nellie died) would give us all their names. Because of my promise to Nellie I have not really tried but any help, especially with census records would be great! I'll add the details as I find them. |
